The Space

Villa Palmeras is a beautiful, highly stylishly decorated detached, two storey, 4 bedroom villa in the lovely Port and Marina resort of Addaia, on Menorca’s dramatic north coast. The villa has been described as ‘The best spot in Addaia’

Set in a quiet cul-de-sac overlooking the marina, the spacious, accommodation offers four bedrooms all with En-Suite and air-conditioning. All beds are Superking size, 3 of which can be made in 2 singles, providing occupancy for 8 people, and benefits from an 8x4m private heated swimming pool.

From the top storey entrance, you are welcomed into a recently redecorated entrance hallway with 3 double bedrooms. The Master and Second bedroom have private sun terraces and all bedrooms have beautiful views of both the marina and the sea and countryside beyond. The fourth double bedroom is downstairs.

The staircase leads you down to the ground floor and its charming large living room, where you will find 2 very large comfortable sofas and 2 armchairs, a wood burner and “smart” TV with IPTV system, providing access to dozens of terrestrial and cable channels.  WiFi is free and comes via a high-speed fibre-optic FTTP.

There is a separate dining area with a table and chairs for up to 8 people adjacent to the kitchen.  The open-plan kitchen comes well equipped with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge, dishwasher and a large variety of crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, glasses, utensils etc. as well as a selection of the owners’ Spanish cookery books.  There is a separate laundry room with washing machine which also houses a deep freeze, ironing equipment and lots of picnic boxes which are available to borrow.

Guests can access the outside dining area, terraces and 8m x 4m pool from both the dining area and from the lounge.   There are 8 comfortable sun loungers with cushions as well as a more intimate terrace area with sofa and comfortable chairs which can be shaded by the awning if required.  The terrace and sunbathing area are about 6 metres above the level of the Marina – so you get a wonderful combination of privacy from passers by – but a superior viewing position to watch all the activity in the marina.   There is a large dining table on the terrace with chairs and cushions and a large retractable sun shade if required.  Also on the terrace, you will find a covered Casita with a gas barbecue, wood burning pizza oven and drinks fridge for the ultimate experience in al fresco dining, all overlooking the stunning views of the marina.

The villa is within a couple of minutes stroll from bars, restaurants and a supermarket in one direction, and in the opposite, a similar very short stroll to access to the famous and iconic Cami de Cavalls.  This ancient but restored bridle path encircles virtually all of Menorca’s coastlines and passes through Menorca’s huge UNESCO designated Biosphere natural park, and the beautiful beachside village of Es Grau, an unspoilt traditional Menorcan fishing village.  This is a walkers, bikers and hikers, bird watchers and nature lovers paradise!   Within Addaia are places where you can hire bicycles, kayaks, paddle boards and boats, and the local dive school operates from the marina.  The local bar in the marina, The Cantina is the perfect spot for a sundowner or a casual meal and its reassuring proximity means you can watch your children from the villa as they pop in for an ice cream.

Addaia itself is a picturesque marina, home to many impressive yachts and motor cruisers and the villa is in the perfect spot to watch all the comings and goings of the boats.  Addaia is ideally located on the north coast, being less than a 5 minute drive to the wonderful beaches of Arenal den Castell, Na Macaret and Son Saura.  A 10 minute drive will take you to Playa Tirant, the beach of Playa de Fornells also on to Fornells itself, a historic and beautiful small town, marina and port, which provides a host of fine dining opportunities, bars, shops selling a wide range of artesian products, and breathtaking coastal views and walks (including the huge bay of Fornells).

If you wanted to visit some of Menorca’s busiest beaches and resorts such as Binibeca, Punta Prima, Alcalfar, Cala En Porter – these are around a 40 minutes drive.

Journey time by car to Mahon and the airport approximately 25 minutes and the same for Cuitadella, Menorca’s imposing former capital, dominating its west coast and many natural beaches and coves.

Location

Port Addaia in Menorca is a sheltered marina on the north east of the island. The large natural harbour inlet is surrounded by rugged farmland and beautiful meadows whilst the old tower of Torre d’Addaia dominates the entrance to the beautiful estuary.  The whole area is renowned for its beauty, beaches, scuba diving and bird watching with many country walks and cycling trails clearly signposted. Over the last few years Addaia has become an attractive area of quality residential properties built around the smart marina, home to private yachts and boats. One of the best sailing schools in the Mediterranean is in Fornells, just 15 minutes from Addaia.

Addaia has a few shops and restaurants as well as a very convivial small tapas bar/restaurant down on the harbour overlooking the water.  A scenic coastal footpath wends its way around Addaia with spectacular views out to sea and over to nearby Macaret. For those who like a little more life, the busier resort of Arenal d’en Castell is approximately 5 minutes by car, with its 650m of sandy beach where you will find bars and restaurants. If you like seafood, a trip to Fornells is a must!
